Opportunities Unlimited ADC

Opportunities Unlimited Adult Development Center is a state-licensed facility dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual disabilities. Located in the heart of Escondido, San Diego County, California, our center-based program provides personalized services to 75 older adults, both male and female, including those who are ambulatory and non-ambulatory. With a staff-to-consumer ratio of 1:4, we ensure each individual receives the attention and care they deserve. In addition to our center-based services, we are also certified to provide Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), allowing us to support individuals in their own homes and communities. Conveniently situated on a commercial strip east of Valley Parkway, our center is easily accessible and committed to empowering adults with intellectual disabilities to thrive and reach their full potential.

Mission

Our commitment is to provide a nurturing social environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities, empowering them to thrive in their communities and reach their full potential. We offer daily activities, experiences, and opportunities tailored to enhance their unique strengths and meet their individual needs, while promoting independence, dignity, and self-determination. Our person-centered approach prioritizes choice, autonomy, and community integration, ensuring that each individual receives the support and services they need to live a fulfilling life.

We’re dedicated to delivering high-quality services that foster growth, independence, and social connections, and to creating a comprehensive system of care that supports the well-being and quality of life of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Our Goal

Our goal is to empower individuals to increase and maintain their level of independence, both within our program and in the community. We strive to provide opportunities for them to exercise their freedom of choice, selecting experiences and activities that align with their interests and making decisions that impact all areas of their personal life. By refining existing skills and developing new ones, we aim to foster personal growth and development. Additionally, we seek to provide greater access to community resources, enabling individuals to manage their finances, make purchases, and explore supported employment opportunities that align with their desires and aspirations.

Home and Community-Based Services

Opportunities Unlimited Adult Development Center conforms to the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) mandated by the federal government’s final rule. HCBS provides technical support to owners/licenses and residential facilities to ensure compliance with federal directives, and to evaluate the effectiveness of integrating home services with resource contributions to create an environment conducive to self-determination.
We take pride in conforming to the HCBS final rule because it reflects our commitment to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to live independently and make their own choices. By promoting the principles of self-determination, person-centered planning, and community integration, we believe that we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment that fosters growth, independence, and social connections.

We promote the views and ideology of this law because it aligns with our mission to provide high-quality, culturally responsive services that prioritize the needs and preferences of each individual. By embracing the HCBS final rule, we demonstrate our dedication to delivering services that are tailored to the unique strengths and needs of each person, and to creating a comprehensive system of care that supports the well-being and quality of life of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
